Wizz Air Baggage Rules — Sizes, Weight, and How to Avoid Fees

Wizz Air is one of the most popular carriers flying from Georgia — and the one where not knowing the baggage rules costs the most. An oversize fee at the gate often exceeds the ticket price. Here is everything in one place.

The free carry-on is small

  • Basic fare includes one small bag, max 40×30×20 cm — wheels and handles included;
  • It must fit under the seat in front of you, not in the overhead bin;
  • A compact backpack up to ~20 L fits; a classic cabin trolley does not — the most common and expensive mistake.

What WIZZ Priority adds

Priority lets you also bring a trolley case of max 55×40×23 cm and 10 kg, plus you board first so overhead space is guaranteed. For 2–4 day trips, Priority plus a correctly sized cabin case often beats paying for checked luggage. Every model in our suitcase catalog lists full external dimensions including wheels.

Checked baggage

Wizz Air sells checked bags in 10, 20, and 32 kg tiers. Total dimensions must stay within 149.86 cm (L+W+H), buying online with the ticket is far cheaper than at the airport, and overweight fees are charged per kilogram — weigh at home.

Tips to avoid fees

  • Measure the bag before buying — listed sizes sometimes exclude wheels, but the airport sizer does not.
  • Soft bags squeeze into the sizer more forgivingly than rigid mini-cases.
  • Jacket pockets are not weighed — move the power bank and book there.
  • A small luggage scale costs a few lari and saves more than one fee.
  • Packing cubes fit more into less volume.

The ideal combo: a 40×30×20 cm backpack for the free allowance, or a light cabin case under 3 kg empty for Priority. Find both at CarryMe — free Tbilisi delivery, cash on delivery, inspect with the courier before paying.
